Pediatric Tui Na, also know as Chinese Pediatric Massage, is a technique employed by practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine that influences a child’s energetic flow in the same way as acupuncture, but uses gentle massage to activate the various points instead of needles.

Techniques are deigned to boost the function of the internal organs by balancing their intrinsic energies, strengthening the immune system, and promoting brain development and overall holistic health.

Unlike western infant massage, Chinese infant massage uses specific treatments for different ailments. It is a sake and extremely effective therapy for the treatment of a wide range of common childhood ailments such as cough/cold, earaches, allergies, asthma, colic, constipation, fever, stomach aches and more.

Pediatric Tui Na uses a system of points and pathways that often do not correspond to the adult ones, but rather are specific to young children. The traditional Tui Na we apply in clinic can be dated back 500 years, and is focused on the left arm and palm.

Treatments are most effective with children from birth to age 10. Pediatric Tui Na is very soothing and gentle, and the acupuncture points are kneaded with the finger tips. Treatments on children are shorter than an adult treatment – usually no more than 30 minutes. Sometimes the parent will be instructed on specific techniques to use at home to assist in restoring balance to the child. Depending on the nature of the illness, 4-6 treatments are usually advised.
